Default Rust already???

Just washed the bike for first time. Never been exposed to the rain or elements... This is what I find..... Its brand new!!!
Is this normal?

Ya it happens to all of them. No idea why they didnt use something that wont rust there.

i think they are rusted when they put them on at the factory... but yeah, its common.

Anywhere you have two dissimilar metals together its going to be more prone to corrosion.

Also see that you're from RI. While you didn't ride in the elements, you probably picked up some leftover salt or deicer residue from the streets.

The stem on your front end is Just bare metal... On my 05 wideglide front end it is chrome. Mine has no rust. My old 39mm narrow front...rust.

Just drop everything and take it back to the dealer. Seriously it is quite common, Dis-similar metals = corrosion. We have to be real careful on the boats we build to prevent the same thing.

... and make sure you aren't storing chemicals like fertilizer or pool chemicals in your garage. they'll ruin your toys, the chemicals actually get into the air and cause a lot of corrosion just from being in the same room.
