Default updates are done but I have a concern

I FINALLY finished putting my dyna back together tonight. I am planning to take some pics tomorrow and share them with all of you.

The concern I have is with the brakes(front and back). They seem to drag quite a bit. I am pretty sure the pads are suppose to lightly touch the rotors but is it possible they are binding a bit. Looking at them tonight it appears that both pads are making the same amount of contact on the rotor. When the bike was on the lift I gave the wheels a spin and they only a rotated about once. The back did not even do that.

My gas mileage has not been very good since I put the aftermarket wheels and rotors on.

Any input?

Got a kink in the line somewhere? Might be applying some slight pressure keeping the pads rubbing.

When was the last time you bled your system? (I ask not knowing 'exactly' what pieces you had apart).

Could be you just need to clean the calipers and pistons. Easy on the front. Tough on the rear. Howard at MotorcycleMetal has a write-up on how to do it. It's the same one that comes with Lyndall pads, so I don't know who gets credit for it. Anyway, if there's build-up around the pistons, they won't retract properly when you release the brake and the pads will drag.

I agree on cleaning the brake pistons/calipers. I did and the improvement was tremendous. Also remember that the rear also has the pulley dragging it so it may not rotate as much as the front.

He seems to have added quite a bit of his own material to it at this point. It's a great write-up.
