i'm picking up my first bike this week and just want to make sure i know what i'm getting into before the purchase. any input, good or bad is appreciated!
so heres what i'm looking at getting. the bike is a 97 wide glide with just over 15K on the clock. it is a 2 owner bike, both in their mid 40's. it has been garage kept its entire life. i'm not sure about all the mods on the bike. i'm really a mustang guy so i'm new to Harleys! heres what i know it has for sure. it has vance and hines pipes, the carb was also rejetted. it has cams in the engine and apparently they caused a problem with the transmission housing cracking, so there was a brace installed to fix the problem. they replaced the trans case too. i think it has some different bars on it as they seem to sit higher than normal. it has forward controls too. there is some chrome already on it along with new front and rear tires.
anyways i just wanted to make sure i know about any issues that may come up before i pay for the bike.
buying price is $8000
below are some pics of the bike. let me know if you guys can tell any other mods are already done and if it is worth the price.
Pictures look good. Have you considered having a PPI (PrePurchase Inspection) done by a dealer or indy prior to the actual purchase? Service records/documents available for you to review?
havent thought of a dealer inspection. i am buying from my best friends family so i dont think he would screw me over.
my buddies dad runs colonial harley up in VA so i can prob get one done for a good deal.
The price doses seem a little high. Other than that it looks like a good bike. At least you mad one good choice in picking a dyna. Now the Mustang on the other hand I not to sure about. J/K
