Hey guys, got a question on rider comfort. Got a 2007 FXDB and I find that my feet are nearly under my ****. This cramps up my legs and hurts my hip when coming up to an intersection. Is there anyway to move the rearend back with a different seat or move the controls forward but not with they way up front kit. I would just like to have my lower leg vertical instead of slightly behind me. I am 5' 10" and weigh 275 lbs. I'm just a wisp of a bro
I had both ankles broken and have limited up and down movement of my foot. If my foot were forward of where they now have to be it would be much easier for me to brake and shift. All this is compounded by the fact I'm older then maybe I should be for a new harley !! It was either now or never be able to realize the dream.
Any suggestions to relax the ankles a bit would be very much appreciated.
Lots of different seats out there that will move you back some. Just becareful they dont lower you to much as well. I had a Lepera BB and it made the mids uncomfortable to me because they were to close.
The Ol'lady has an 09 with the center controls and I rode it home from the dealership and my hips were cramping badly.. Mama is 5ft 7 and likes the center controls but me at 6ft 2, I don't think even forward controls would be enough..Not a bike made for bigger people and I don't think there is much more you could do other than the forward controls.
No way to really move mid controls forward....could go with the standard forwards kit, which really isn't that much of a reach (JPCycles floorboards would help with that) or highway pegs.
Sounds like it would be painful for your ankles to do the constant shifting fromt he mid position....that's why I suggest forwards in your case.
Okay, thanks for the suggestions. I'll look at forward controls. I have the highway pegs but as I'm still new to the bike I want to stay more in control. One problem with the mid control for me is I know I'm not using the back brake enough.
Thanks for your help, I'll stop back later and see if any other interesting ideas surface.
Can anyone reccomend any third market manufacturers of these forward controls?
