I'm pretty laid back and not much bothers me so I'm not pushing or giving them much crap, they have my bike in next Tuesday to start it and possible have it back by the weekend. A big difference then the month down they first told me.
What to do?
The dealer can't make decisions for the manufacture so yes he would have to run it by them. Fact is you won't get a car dealer or any other for that fact throwing in mods because there was a failure. Things happen, you can't mass produce stuff without some bad ones getting through.

Glad you decided to let them do what they need to do. Trust that they will do it right, if they don't it will show up soon enough while your warranty is still in place.

Default New motor or rebuild

I had a leek at the rear of the crank, on my bike, it had simular milage to your's, the dealer rebuilt the engine, balanced the cranks and did a fatastic job, my wife thought it was a diffrent bike the change was so noticable. Like everyone has said, if its not right when you get it back complain. On the plus side you could end up with a better motor than stock, Mine is.

With only 1k on the bike, I would demand a new bike or for them to furnish me with a bike until mine got out of the shop. That way you could be sure they wouldn't throw it in the corner and work on it at their leisure.

+ on the big bore upgrade if they're changing the cases , and a timken bearing in the bottom end while they're in there. but would be much better if harley would just swap out the entire motor. call harley and complain. squeeky wheels, ya know the old saying, get the grease.

Here is mine when it was brand new, about 2 hours after I had purchased it......
I see your from texas, that shop looks familiar, is that at HD-North Texas in carlloton?

The bikes been done a couple days now, weather sucks so its still at the dealer. I was given a price of $950 for the stage 2 103 but I just didn't have the extra loot now to do it, sucks but what am I going to do? They rebuilt the engine back to stock using new cases. The dealer is great, picked the bike up last Thursday afternoon and it was done Wednesday. I am now in the process of fighting with Harley for at least an extra year warranty and a couple services on their bill. I'll let you know what happens. As far as the bike and engine go after the rebuild, I trust the dealer. It wont bother me knowing it was rebuilt, its not like the engine just crapped out on me, just a little leak. If Harley gives me the run around my next bike will probably be another sportbike, I have no ties with Harley and I like to do things out of spite. I don't think I'll get the run around though.

Default Update

Picked the bike up Saturday, I put about 100 miles on it. Seems fine, it might just be me but it actually felt like it went better. I'm in the process of fighting with Harley now for an extended warranty. I can't say enough good things about my dealer, they had the bike done in less then a week.
Please post if you hear of anymore 09 Dyna's with this problem and check your engine. Seems like they are hearing about a lot of 09 Dyna's with an oil leak in the same spot, even people with the black engines make sure you check for problems.

Gary7 I finally installed the moded Street Bob pipes, love it! Best $35 I ever spent on a bike!

I hope you are successful in obtaining the extended warranty, however, if you did not get that up front and now your bike is done, I think it is going to be tough. You will probably be ok, but if anything goes wrong no mater how minor you should go after them again for the warranty. What are you to do? Good luck, enjoy the bike and ride the crap out of it!

Looks like Harley is giving me the run around. I called twice, they said they don't give extended warranties or services out.
I don't think I'm asking for to much, a 1 year extended warranty and for Harley to foot the bill on the next two major services to keep an eye on the engine and bike.
What should I do from here?
