Insist-this, tell 'em-that, demand-the other...sheesh! He was made whole thru his warranty, just as it's intended to do. The anecdotals about what others' have gotten thrown in by their dealer for their trouble are just that; isolated incidents of good-will and not HD or dealer policy. Like the old saying goes; demand into one hand and $#!+ into the other, see which one....
Glad you're rolling again so soon; my IPB-fail took longer to get fixed. Best of luck with your bike.
Looks like Harley is giving me the run around. I called twice, they said they don't give extended warranties or services out.
I don't think I'm asking for to much, a 1 year extended warranty and for Harley to foot the bill on the next two major services to keep an eye on the engine and bike.
What should I do from here?
thats such bullshit. a rebuild my ***, dont get me wrong, I know recession has everyone cinching their belts, and hiding their wallets, but your scoot has 1k on it. and theyre treating it as if it had 3 years, and a few thousand miles on it. Brand new engine. No more, No less. That or offer to pay the difference for the SE engine.

I do. The warranty was honored your bike is fixed to the condition it should be. It is entirely at Harleys discression what they do for the fix. As the bike had only 1000 miles on it there was little to no wear on the parts so why would they replace it with a complete engine? As far as I am concerned the did what they are legally obligated to do. Expecting an extended warranty and free service work is out of line.
As far as replacing the bike and not trusting it after a rebuild...it's nuts. If they had to replace every bike after a major warranty claim there would be no Harley Davidson. I would have no problem trusting the work performed by the dealer. How many big bores, cams, heads, intakes, downloads etc.......are instaled on brend new bikes by these dealers before the bike ever hits the road with a new owner? Would you have trouble trusting that work? No? Not much different than what just happened here.
To demand a new engine, bike, free extended warranty or services is un-reasonable in my opinion. My opinion would be different if you were at 1 year 11 months, then you should get some additional warranty for the engine alone.
