Thanks all for your suggestions in my earlier post.
I called HD today. The first tier started a case number and got me through to another person, tier 2 who said they can't tell me if my bike is affected without having my local dealer look at it. She confirmed they "no longer feel the need to replace the bearing every 15k miles is necessary".
Called my local dealer and as soon as I explained it to him he knew what I was talking about. She goes in to the shop in exactly 2 weeks.
Thanks again for all the info and wish me luck.

Hope they get you taken care of quickly. Depends on if they do the "quick fix" or the thorough fix. I think that the first-timers get a new bearing & race; when/if that fails again, they'll put in the '07+ cases, too. If you get to that point, you can have them install the chrome IPCase for no $$ out-of-pocket. You may have seen these already, but here's my process...some useful info here (and some use-less info, too!)
Looks like Harley's gonna make good. My service guy called today and said the job was done. He replaced the bearing and the race and i could come pick it up. He called back a few minutes later and said that he called MoCo and they want him to take it apart again and see if the case has the dowels. If not they want him to replace the tranny case, etc. on their dime.
Bad news is I lose the bike for a few more days but good news is it appears as if they are going to do me right.
Thanks again to all who advised me. You all saved me a pretty penny.
Doc and D, the dealers really don't know about it unless they have had to replace the bearing more than once. I went and took a look at my bike at the dealer today since it is all tore down waiting for all the parts. My service guy is pissed off that HD never told them about the issue with the dowels. All they were ever told was that it was a faulty bearing that the MoCo installed. If you look back at some of the old posts here about the issue none of us knew that the issue was in fact the dowels.
Doc that's cool that they are doing you right. Many guys have gotten screwed with this issue.
PKelly, Ha Ha, chrome inner primary cover. Wrong! I tried it. The customer service rep probably won't forget my name. It wasn't a casual converstion. I told him that I didn't think my request was going to be break the MoCo's profits. It got ugly. Tim

Your shop has to cooperate to get the chrome IP Case. My dealer ordered it separately ($299) from the batch of parts HD sent to fix my bike, installed the chrome one, then will return the black IP Case HD sent ($400) back for credit. Even paying the 15% restocking fee, the shop comes out $$ ahead. Too bad your folks couldn't/wouldn't get it done for you...sure like the looks of mine!
Mine disintegrated at 4400 miles, but since my warranty had ended, they refused to do anything. I put a Drag Specialties bearing in my '06. Only have 5900 miles so I don't knwo if my problem is solved or not. Not a subject that brings a smile to my pie hole as H-D should fix all of these since the problem was evident right from the start.
I spoke to an attorney friend who has some experience with lemon law claims. He said if mine goes bad and HD won't fix it after all the history with this bad bearing/case issue then I should get an attorney and the first thing to do would be to file a lawsuit and subpoena all the HD warranty service claim records for the 2006 Dyna IPB failure claims worldwide.
He said you will get an offer for a free repair within a week.
