On my 03 Wide Glide I drained the stock fork oil out and put in Screaming Eagle Heavy fork oil. Stiffened it up quiet a bit but not too stiff. I really like the feel.

Changing the springs and oil is easy.

A fluid change can stiffen it up but if going to do that I would go ahead and put new springs in as well. You can get springs for under $100.

Do i need to put it up on a jack to do this stuff? Or will the jiffy stand work?

You need the front wheel off the ground. I built a homemade little lift out of scrape wood I had in the garage when I did mine.

Its not the prettiest thing but it works great.

The heavy oil and springs are said to be stiff by a few people on this site, I went with 10wt/medium oil and springs and all is well, I guess it all depends on your weight and riding habits.

+1, I put in the SE oil when changing the lowers and so far I like the feel. Next time I will probably go to progressive springs...

I did both SE oil and Progressive springs and the diffrence was incredible. Factory HD suspension is really **** IMO. This winter I will do a serious suspension upgrade.
