Default Muffler clamp question.

i'm thinking of getting Cycle Shacks on my Bob, and my clamps are in need of being replaced. Now when i order my slip-ons, do i have to request new clamps or do they come with them?

you need to buy them - $7-8 each if I remember correctly.

Cycle shack does not supply clamps you need to purchase separately

When you change your exhaust...

You might be able to get another use out of them, but I know of several folks here that have had their slipons, fall off. Some couldn't find them and so were out some bucks. Cheap insurance, buy new clamps....

Definitely replace them. Torque them to 45-50 ft lbs (per manual) and do it in 10ft lb increments. If you try to go straight to 45-50 ft-lbs the clamps can break (at least the first set I did that to broke). Go for a ride, let the bike cool down, then re-torque and you should be good to go.

I'm sure glad to read about the 45-50 lb. ft. of torque. One of my mufflers was about 2 inches longer than the other. I just used a ratchet wrench and tighten both clamps real good and tight. When I re-tightened with a torque wrench they were way to loose. Thanks for the information.

I know HD has had my slips off a couple of times and they don't mention new clamps, but at the price archer mentioned why take a chance? Especially if they are corroded.....show your dealer and ask him to throw you a pair!
