Can anyone recommend a size....I am debating between the Medium and the Large bikers friend bag. I want something that won't stick out too much, and that will carry enough for a weekend trip.
I got the Large size, big enough to put the 3/4 helment plus additional items in when parked. It doesn't stick out too much and can use it as a back rest.
I also have a large, it does stick out past the seat, but I can stash my helmet in there, and when I stop at the store I can fit a couple bags of groceries in there! I bought it for trips, now I never take it off.
Here is the x-large one on a dyna. I never leave it on so looks are not a concern of mine. I use it for touring and bring the bag in where I am staying for the night etc. The back rest it provides is great for long mileage days.

Here is a large size Biker's Friend bag 13" D by 15" L. Fantastic bag, have had it on numerous x-country trips for the past 5 years. It is mounted here in front of a T-Bags Lonestar luggage set.
Great quality and works as a back rest as well.
I never needed to carry all that much so the Medium worked fine for me.
Mounting the bag can be a challenge without a sissy bar.
Saddlebags IMO works out better in the long run.
Just FYI .. there is a knockoff of the Bikers Friend that is significantly cheaper. I just couldnt make myself cough up over $200 for a Bikers Friend.
I have to confess that mine came with a small hole in one of the end caps: They claimed they would fix it for free and reimburse me for the cost of shipping it back to them .well see.
I really like the bag otherwise. Packs a nice long weekends worth of stuff .. I took mine to Republic of Texas Rally this summer for five days and it worked wonderfully.
