Default Gimp Hangers

Okay guy's...I've got my 14" Gimp Hangers on the way for the Bob, and want to ask anyone out there who's changed their bars if I need to do anything special when taking the switches off the old bars. For example: springs or other internal parts that will go flying out if you take the housing completely apart??? Or is is best to crack the bolts loose and just slide them off??? Also, because I'm going to keep my wiring on the outside of the bars, will there be enough length for the extra 2" or do I need to buy new cables??? It looks like the way they're wraped under the stock risers that if I run them from the front side I may have enough length.

Thanks for any insight...I'm stoked about the this mod and can't wait to git-r-done and post some pics. [sm=partyparty.gif]

I didn't put Gimps on, buy I did go to 14s. Electrical wiring should be long enough, especially if your going on the outside. There is more wiring then what you see stuffed into the phrame. Pull a little extra out.

There shouldn't be anything phlying out of the switch housings. But be careful, there is a "shoe" on the throttle side that the tension nut screws into. If you loosen the tension nut too much the shoe could phall out.

Have you already gotten the new clutch, throttle/idle cables, and a new brake line? You will need those.

I still need to get the clutch, throttle cables and brake line. Where did you get your's from?? Harley? After market? What sizes over stock? Also, was the changing the clutch cable a pain in the a$$ or not? Not sure how much I can do on my own.

I ordered mine from Barnett. I went with 6" OS. Just about right for the throttle/idle cables, the clutch cable looks a little long, but it works. It wasn't too bad to change.

16over, for the same bars only 2" taller, would the +6" OS work for the throttle and idle cables? If the clutch is alittle long I take it will be fine with the 16"s?

your black prostreets and black gimps adds a great touch to yours[sm=smiley20.gif]
