Throttle/Idle Cable Question.
Do you need to take the tank off a '06 superglide to switch out the throttle and idle cables? Also, is it a hard thing to swap them out or fairly easy? By the way, I already have the housing seperated and off the bars and the cables out of the housing.
I don't have an 06, but it would certainly be easier if you do take the tank off. You may find the cables run through clips or straps out of sight that will prevent you from getting the old ones off, also getting to the throttle body will make it much easier to change them at that end.
Its an easy job to do. Take care of the twistgrip end when disconnecting the cables, as they have little brass nipples that can go awol! Give everything at that end a light smear of grease when reassembling, so it runs nice and smooth.

You can unbolt the tank, that will give you enough play to slide it back and up a bit to get at the retention clamp on the main tube. That's unless your crossover tube was cut tight, I had to replace the throttle on mine, , 04' gives you just enough room to get at the furls on the TB.
+1 on the brass rings on the throttle end, Lay a towel under the bike, Got 10 bucks says you drop it removing the cable from the throttle
Don't forget to stick a piece of Cardboard between the brake lever, don't want to break that stupid little brake light switch off, guess how I figured that one out

Pretty easy to do, just take your time. I would also suggest manual be on hand. On my '04, tank needed to come off due to tyrap retainers that snap into holes in frame, as seen in Cables 1A pic. TB end, as seen in Cables 2A, takes a little manual dexterity, especially if you have fat fingers.
