Default Help with Ape Hangars

I have a 2009 Street Bob, and I have been searching for months, and have narrowed it down to Nash Gimps. I am not sure about going with the 14 or 16 inch. I'm only 5'7", and I don't want my hands above my shoulders. From my searching, Plus 6" for the throtte cables and brake line, and plus 8" on the clutch, should work.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, as I am going to make a purchase in the next week. I am leaning towards Motion Pro Cables, any thoughts?

Thanks!

First off, if you insist on not having your hands above your shoulders 14"'s, or maybe even 12"'s. For the 14" bars +6 should be fine with a +8 on the clutch. The most important thing is to find the right height for you comfort wise. See if you can find some bikes with apes of varying heights and sit on them to get a feel for where your hands will be before ordering.

Not sure where you live, but check the regs in your state, some have strict height requirements.
I am with HG above, 14 will probably be well over your shoulders, you may want to stick with 12's I am 6'1" and my apes are supposedly 12's, measure more like 14 overall and they put my hands just slightly above my shoulders in my Mustang seat and well above my shoulders on my Barebones seat.

Default Apes

I just finished 16" Gimps on my 07 Bob. Stock risers, stock seat. I'm 5 10 or so and mine are over my shoulders, they are pushed fwd a little. I love em and would reccomend to anyone. I know this is worthless without pictures, I will try to update some pics later today...

I hope you know that Nash is notorious for taking 8-12 weeks. Don't expect to receive them next week. Here's a copy of an email I received from them last week.I asked about picking them up to avoid shipping:

All of our handlebar orders are about 3-6 weeks out. If you would like to order some and not pay for shipping so you can drive down to pick them up, yea you can do that. Thanks

I am also a 5'7" rider with an 09' Street Bob. I am going with 2" risers from Loner Industries, since he is the only one that makes risers for the 09' and a 16" ape package from
Hill Country Custom Cycles. The bars will be above my shoulders but the setup just feels right.

Here's a picture of my Lowrider with Mini Apes from Harley. For a 5'7" rider, they would be just about shoulder height. Whatever you do, go with 1-1/4" bars. They look the best.

The 09' Street Bob comes with 10" mini apes and they are about chest high to me.
