If you're gonna $#!t-can it, I'd like to dissect it and see if I can bring it back to life. I've had issues with mine on occasion, but not so bad I'm ready to tear it apart (in case I can't fix it and destroy it in the process). If anyone has a flush LED gauge that's on the fritz, I'd like to dig into one (only if you don't mind if I destroy it in the attempt). I fix the electrical side of CNC machines, so I'm not a total hack.
I put black flush mounts on 10 months ago to replace my chrome flush mounts.
had no probs with the chrome ones, just wanted change to black.
the black ones have also been trouble free,
Have to note, these are just for show.
due to fitting a tank lift, they don't read true. I now use the odometer for fill ups.

If you can figure out how to keep my low fuel warning light on the speedo working you can have my LED fuel gauge.
I am trying to figure out how hard it is to remove the left fake cap? I am not going to put on the Harley flush cap but an aftermarket - can I ut remove left cap and ignore any wiring - I can't figure out what is under left cap
look under the tank where the wires come out. If you are not going to reuse the stock gauge then just cut the wires and pull the gauge from the top it will come out.

Basically, there is nothing under the gauge. Just grab it and pull straight up. You'll have to disconnect the wiring harness in order to remove it though.
