Question Difference between seats/year models?

Just curious. I've seen where seats are designated for say, 91-04 or whatever the year ranges are. What are the differences? Will they truly Not fit the different year frames, or is it as simple as the rear fender hole being in a different location? Do they all slip into the frame bracket and sit on the frame rails the same other than the fender? It would sure make it easier to find seats if I didn't have to worry about year ranges. (My fender will be replaced eventually and need new mounting holes drilled anyway.) Thanks for your time.

Josh

As far as aI know, different hole line up in the rear, and differenct connections on the front, how the attach to the frame. There may also be other sizing issues such as space below the seat or intereference from the shocks, etc.

I used a seat from an 05 on my 07 and the only difference was the bolt location in the fender i fixed that by making my own bracket for the seat...im pretty sure you could do that to your bike...but the front tab that goes under the tank is most likely the same...
