Default Spark Plugs

Hey all,

Im looking to do a end of summer tune up on my own, but in all the catalogs i read, it specifiys HD ( part number ) items like Spark Plugs etc...

anyone have any idea what the part number is for a standard spark plug if i were to go to an Auto parts store.

I really hate the idea of having to go to the HD thief's den for items like spark plugs.

in the big picture I think you'd be better off just getting the HD ones. Smallest of the rip offs most likely.

Champion, AC Delco, NGK, AutoLite, .....
Plugs are plugs,
I have issues going to HD and paying 2-3 dollar more for plugs that i can buy at my Local Auto parts store and install myself.
Im sorry, paying HD $100 and hour ( labor) plus parts does not sit well with me.
I think its retarded.

i run HD plugs they are like 10 bucks... i have tried a few others and the HD ones just seem to make the bike run better. also, no point to stick them in at the end of the season, hold on to them and put them in when you do your oil change in the spring. i never change my oil at the end of the season only in the spring, there is no point, with the temp changes moisture accululates in the cases and soon that oil is worth a crap. it is just a waste of money... do it in the spring or now so you can enjoy the fresh fluids for a bit

JRk: point well taken, ill do the change this weekend assuming i have time.

Super: as far as mileage, Im not a technician, but im sure new plugs only help performance.
I was considering those E3 plugs for a better burn.
or Iridiums.

I have seen many threads regarding spark plugs and you might be in for a big surprise. Maybe not, but maybe so....and, at least for me, $20 is cheap insurance. I'd stick with HD just because they obviously work.

I do understand the money issue, I do agree. Everything HD seems to be a rip off, I just wouldn't want to shoot myself in the foot over spark plugs.

Good luck with whatever you choose.
