Did they ever call HD direct to confirm what you where talking about? If not maybe a mention from you for them to call them could clear it up.

Owens is the only non-Shumate dealer close by and I don't want to drive to Seattle or Boise twice to fix this, the gas would cost more than the parts!!
My personal opinion is that the baker bearing is a better design for that application.

I am considering buying a 2009 or a 2010 Super Glide and am wondering if this IPB syndrome has been corrected on the new bikes? You'd think it has but what do the forum members say?

Haven't heard of any reports of IPB problems with newer Dynas.

This whole thing about the dealers not knowing about this is B.S. When mine went the dealer said they didn't know anything about it, or the letter that went out. A few months later they lost their Harley franchise because they wouldn't upgrade their building to Harleys new standard. They are now an indy shop. Now they know all about the bearing problem and can remember exactly how many they had changed when they were a dealer. I don't know how Harley did it but they have put the fear of god in their dealers when it comes to discussing known issues that aren't being recalled.

I did mention to the gut a couple of times that the gal at Cust serv said the dealer needs to call tech support and they will get a rederence number for the work. He just couldn't get past thinking I wanted them to pay it.

As far as the Baker bearing, there is another thread with discussion of this bearing. Baker claims the bearing will eliminate any future failures. I ave it on order so I'll let you all know down the road.

I forget who, but at least one member of this forum posted a failure on a 08 I believe it was. I have read a few cases in the 07 + models anyway. If they were stock or modified engines I couldn't tell you since I don't recall all specifics accept the IPB failure.
