The 04 - 05 seats are supposedly too short to use on the 06 and later because of the changes in the frames.
At one time, I had an 05 Wide Glide seat on my 06 Super Glide. It wasn't a perfect fit, but was usuable and looked like it fit without being an eyesore. Some have used the older seats on the newer bikes by fabricating a new rear mounting tab which was 1/2" longer.
I have not seen any or threads info about someone using the newer seats on the 04-05 frames.
