I didn't notice either util my daughter complained about the vibrations in her feet. Had I noticed I would have picked the Softail Custom.

The moco must think that Dyna riders do not ride two up and will remove the rear mounts for the solo look.

To the original poster- I don't see anything about what kind of riding you want to do with the bike. What to expect is all relative as to what you want to do. You "could" ride around the world two up on an 883, but H-D makes bikes better suited, and so it is with Dynas and Softails. You also haven't stated if budget is a concern. Since you asked for opinions, here's mine: before I bought ANY Softail (Softail Customs MSRP $16,999) I would seriously consider a standard RoadKing (also MSRP 0f $16,999) which has a shield and hard bags included as well as a touring frame. If you just want to ride around town on something with a few more cubic inches than a Sportster, any of the Dynas will do just fine, and at a considerable savings over the Softails.

I have both, an 07 Wide Glide & an 08 Softtail Custom. I love them both!!! My FXSTC, has a stage one kit & is a little more snappier, but they are both fast bikes with plenty of power. For ride quality, I would say the FXDWG is better for two-up riding. When my wife is on the Softtail with me, I feel the bumps a lot more than on the Wide Glide. Sitting side by side, they look alot alike. I am comfortable on both on long rides, but my wife likes our 04 Ultra Classic for long trips because of the comfort level. I like the stripped-down, chopper look of both the FXSTC & FXDWG. The Wide Glide was always my dream bike, since growing up with my dad's 81 FXWG. I also had an 04 FXDWG, but traded it for the Softtail, to have another option for a riding platform. My Wide Glide has standard forward controls & my Softtail has extended forward controls. I am 6'3" & both bikes fit me well! Ultimately, it's going to depend on your riding style & the kind of look/feel your looking for. Someday, I would also like to get a Lowrider, to add to my collection. Take some test rides & find your style. Don't pick a bike based on opinions alone.... your bike will pick you one you find it!!! Good Luck & Ride Safe!!!

The bike that started it all....1981 FXWG!

This is the 04 FXDWG, that i traded to get the FXSTC.

One of my longest term riding partners has an '05 WG with carb, stock. If I was in the market for a used bike I'd be pestering him like crazy. They're suited to a taller person (I'm only 5'10", he's about 6'2"). The styling shows a lot of "Heritage" to me; I like it a lot.
The Softails are nice; styling is just too "Faux" for my conscience. BTW; I've done 30+ states and 6 provinces on my Fat Bob. I've tried all versions of the FLH and found them too ponderous for my (solo) riding style.

That's only .02 cents worth; I could ramble on...
