I'll give you that. Just wondering how much further they can go to meet the EPA mark when you look at a bike with a 1500 cc or greater air cooled motor. The stage 1 flash with the A/C and pipes still isn't much better than stock for cooling it down.
Outside of HD (excluding the V-Rod) I don't think there is anyone else that's not water cooled in this size of a bike?

The Royal Star and the V-Max are liquid cooled but they are V-4's.
Not sure I could be convinced that the size of the motor has that much to do with it.Yeah, I know the theory...bigger motor means more power, means more heat generated.
But test that theory by grabbing the pipe on a 650cc with your bare hands........
As if to punctuate this thread, my wife just went out and bought herself a 2009 Yamaha Raider....Yeah, I know....Harley wannabe chopper.
But she is hooked on the reliability of Jap bikes and sometimes I can't blame her.
Anyways, the Raider is an air cooled 1850cc V-Twin and has an absolute monster of a motor in stock trim.....I am talking 2nd gear rolling burnouts here.
Runs smooth with just enough vibes, not much mechanical noise and gobbs of torque.
The power of this bike easily spanks the stock 96 in my Fat Bob.
Yeah this will probably get some verbal tomato's thrown at me, but why can't HD build a motor like this?

often we forget about the V-ROD. Sure it's water cooled, but, thats where the stock performance Harley motor is at.
and I am still learning, Power Vision tuner works the best of all of them" my opinion", but with narrow band 02 sensors the tuning ability is limited. For the best tune buy the power vision with the wide band 02 sensors, $$$ for sure, but have the best system for tuning and can get a custom MAP from Fuel Moto if you buy from them!! I learned the hard way and only save 40 dollars.

I'll probably always be a Harley rider, just because I'm old and set in my ways, but I don't see anything objectionable about acknowledging either Harleys or Jap bikes for what they are, and what they aren't. I rode some rather impressive Victorys last weekend (dang, that little 1200cc whatever-it-was-called was pretty darned fast and fun).
go with DYNO Jet- Power Vision, best money I spent so far, I tune my own bikes, with base MAP from DYNO Jet, and also my wife's bike. 07 / 08 and both run great. DYNO is best for sure, but you pay for a race tuner (around $350.00), or Power Commander (around $400.00) and pay a tech close to $300.00 to hit your rev limiter for a hour to tell you have 90 HP, or buy a PV for $400.0 and do it all yourself,, now if you are tuning one of those mountain motors, >110 HP,, then go to a DYNO tune,, because you are making some real HP.... again just my 2 cents. !!!
