Default Question for you Street Bob guys

I'm in process of looking at trading up from my Nightster to a Street Bob (in November in Portland, so that shows how smart I am.) ANYWAY, I have a couple options: A nice tuned up 2008 Street Bob with 2-into-1 wrapped Thunderheader exhaust and race tuner, belonged to one of the guys that works in the shop or a new 2010 Street Bob bone stock. Pricing is about the same. I'll be putting forwards on both, I'm leaning towards the 2008 but was curious on thoughts from you guys, anyone just put pipes on without adding an air cleaner/tuner?

Thanks

If it were me...and the price were the same... I would go with the new one. Thats just me.

No dings, no dents, no issues new...A warranty.

Sert/Dyno/Pipes are gonna run you about 1000.00 bucks. Is 1000.00 worth the miles and dings on the old one? For me the answer is no. But its your choice. You might find you like a different pipe set up also.

Cheers,

Tom

Uh, the 08s still under warrantee.A Thunderheader = 600 an some change, a race tuner 3-5 hundred depending on where you buy it and getting that combo tuned right can cost ya up to 500 in dyno time so yea I'd go for the 08.If it were me I'd keep the Nightster .

I went from a Nightster 07 to my 09 Street Bob last January during the trade in deal. I had V&H short shots on it with the high flow and Fuel Pak (crap) ECU. There are some days where I wish I still had the Nightster because it was paid off and had some addons to it. My Street Bob though is night and day difference in the ride. Whoa!!! Big time! If the bike with the mods on it are in good working order and you trust the guy you are buying from, then go for that because it'll save you some CAYSH because if you get a bare bones model the itch to mod will be there.

Nah man, I'd go with the 2010 bike. You get a new 2 year warranty from your purchase date, a BRAND new bike that you'll be able to ride properly and know how its ridden. I'm sure the 08' is fine, but you don't know how it was treated previously, ya know?

...not to steal your thread, but

Can I ask why you are trading from the nightster to the street bob? I have been considering both of these bikes. I have not yet ridden the street bob, but will be doing so Saturday (Rode a DWG). I love the look of the nightster, had fun riding it, but I am thinking the bigger bike may be more comfortable for a longer ride.

I'd go with the new one, that way you know what you're getting... Is a Thunderheader and race tuner the setup you would want? But probably fine either way.

No question in my mind to go for the 2010. 2 and 3 year old Street Bobs can be had for thousands less than a new one. You didn't say how many miles are on the 08, but you get to break in the new one and have a full warranty.
You can probably run just the pipes themselves but IMO it may lean it out even more and the only change you get is the sound. That's fine if that's what you want, but put in a good tuner and a/c and you'll see the kind of potential the motor has.
