Great post, I am gathering things needed to do this very thing. Will the Chrome lowers off a 06-Later FXDWG fit on the stock tubes of a 08 SG? I plan on using the trees off a WG and keeping everything else stock, minus 21" wheel and axle. but if using the lowers off a WG will make lining everything up easier seems that would be the way to go. Thanks
I just did a WG conversion a couple weeks ago using aftermarket trees, Wide Glide wheel, WG sliders, WG spacers, and WG axle. Using the WG sliders allowed the rotor and caliper to line up without the use of spacers. The WG sliders are the same from 06-08.
I was thinking the same thing about the wide glide lowers. would the extra length give you more of the stock wide glide look and allow the rear to not be lowered?

If I remember right, the 2006 & 2007 sliders have a 1" axle, and the 2008 has a 25mm axle. Are the axles the same where they mount into the sliders?
Some additional information below for who ever might need it.

Here's what I used: 2006 Wide Glide parts; 21" wheel, upper and lower triple clamps, axle, axle spacers.
From a hardware store: 3/4" chrome spacers and 3/4" longer then original stainless Allen head bolts for mounting the fender, and stainless washers for shimming (.040" for the caliper & .090" for the rotor) to center the caliper over the rotor.
Use other existing hardware from your bike (axle nut and washer, triple clamp pinch bolts, head bearings nuts and washer, fender nuts, forks, etc.).
I bought the parts from Zanotti's back in June of 06.
Here are the Harley Davidson part numbers and Zanotti prices: P/N 46700-06 Upper Triple Clamp.....$ 65.75 P/N 46386-06 Lower Triple Clamp....$139.83 P/N 40923-06 Front Axle..................$ 28.39 P/N 40926-06 RH/FRT Spacer.............$ 4.58 P/N 40927-06 LH/FRT Spacer.............$ 4.58 Total..$243.13
Update: 4/3/08 Axle spacers above are also available in a chrome tapered version P/N 41410-06 Chrome Tapered Front Wheel Spacer Kit $23.51
Original Wide Glide tire replaced with only 7,300 miles on it (Not much tread left). Replaced it with a Avon Venom AM41 90/90-21, widest tire (3.70") I could find that will fit the Wide Glide Profile rim.

I am assuming they are because both axles use the same sliders (#46589-06B).
For future readers researching this, don't get this info confused with the front end kits. The sliders are the same, the front end kits are not.
A little update. The conversion is complete and everything looks good. I will go tomorrow and get the bolts for the risers so that I can get this bitch on the road. Who knew I would need 1/2"x20 bolts. Damn fine thread ****. I was working on the rear of the bike today and these fell out.
This is what happened. The stance is setting about right now.
