07 FXDC mini tach install help

I have finally a silver face gauge mounted on my FXDC

I have some 18 gauge wire
i know where the Hot and Grnd wires go
spare fuse for hot
grnd to frame grnd

My question is
Where do I get the tach signal from (pink)???

My dealer says the pink wire ( tach signal wire, currently not being used) should be in the speedometer harness under the gas tank

can anyone shed some insight into this?

PS I do have the factory service manual

The pink wire went away after '03. You have to pick up the signal from pin 3 on the ECM connector under the electrical cover on the left side. If you got the mini tach new, it should have come with a wiring harness that includes the terminal you need to plug into the ECM connector. Otherwise, you'll need to get a 72076-00 terminal. Unless they've changed the instructions in the last couple years, they suck.
