Glad to see your not a giver-upper bud! That bit of chrome, if it was me, just peel it off with my fingers, carefully try to get the rust off without causeing collateral damage ie penetrating oil and a rag, then forget it or try to protect with some heat resistant paint. But that spot shouldn't come back often with regular use. Once a year type deal. IMO Otherwise the only way to fix chrome is to re-chrome.
any idea what is involved with a re-chrome of the cylinder head. cost, and is this something that I can just un-screw and exchange?

you can prolly pick up a set on ebay for around 125.00 to 200.00 re-chromed, i bought mine for 175.00. it isnt that bad of a job to do, just very tight. best way to get the idea of the procedure is het the owners manual and read it and see if you want to or can do the job, then decide. jackyl
freddy sent you a pm on the relocation set iam using very happy with them for the price couldn't beat them and i have had no issues with them after being on all last year and running 15,000 miles chromes still good and no issues here is the link i sent you in the pm also http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/49mm-...Q5fAccessories
I think Im going to check in to a High heat chrome spray before i do anything(if there is such a beast). its hardly that noticeable. im thinking maybe with a q-tip i can just touch it up.
at least to by me some time as I just purchased this bad boy and have so much other things to do.
what do you think??
OhioSkully thanks however I ordered a pair from the HD dealer. i was going to get that pair from harley but wanted a tighter profile to the fork 39mm vs 49mm.
I believe it was about 30 $$ more.

Another "gotcha" to watch out for; make sure your upper tree fork pinch bolts don't hit your tank at the stops. When I added my 2" lift, mine would JUST touch the front of the tank at the R/L stops. My work-around was to re-drill my rear tank mount, which moved the tank rearward ~3/4". Also raised the rear the same amount, which mitigated the fuel gauge inaccuracy inherent in a front-only lift. See my post #61 in the current "Post Your Wide Glide" thread for some pix.
