Firstly thanks for your reply! I agree with you 100%, but I am not very keen on disassembling the engine just yet. I want to save this until the motor needs rebuilding (mine has done only 5000miles only) si it doesn't make sense to me to replace all bearings and gaskets just for color atm, but cost wise you are right. It's not that much more expensive to powder-coat it. What are my other options here?? I can get covers to be powder-coated and respray the cylinders, but it's mainly the engine and cylinders that need attention. it'd be a pickle to find the matching finish as well imo. :/
I misunderstood, apparently. When you spoke of sending things out for blasting, I assumed you had a disassembled set of parts.
I've used the Harley spray in both wrinkle and texture. Never on high temp parts like heads or cylinders, though.
The texture finish is easy. Just follow the instruction on the can.
I've used Rust-O-Leum etching primer with good results. For aluminum with corrosion concerns, I think I'd consider seeking out the local marine/boating supply for special aluminum primer.

THEY SAY IT'S HIGH TEMP PAINT ALTHOUGH IT DOESN'T SAY ON THE TIN

THEY DON'T MENTION ANY PRIMING - DOES IT MEAN IT WILL ETCH TO BARE ALUMINIUM? WHAT SORT OF PAIN IT IS (I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT TYPE OF PAIN IS IT - ENAMEL, EPOXY, ACRYLIC...HOW CAN I CHOOSE PRIMER AND AVOID INCOMPATIBILITY ISSUES? MY HD DEALER HAS NO CLUE).

I DON'T SEEM TO BE ABLE TO FIND RUSTOLEUM ETCHING PRIMER IN THE UK - I HEARD VERY GOOD THINGS ABOUT THIS PAINT!
I AM IN PROCESS OF CALLING ALL LOCAL SUPPLIERS - WISH ME GOOD LUCK .
(CAPITAL TO HIGHLIGHT ANSWERS - I AM NOT shouting AT YOU OF COURSE.
