I know some guys with pre 06 bikes are running a 160 rear tire without much trouble, but anything wider than that isn't worth the cost involved to make it fit in my opinion.
If you search the dyna forums for this topic you'll see what I mean. I'm not sure if the stock swingarm on the pre 06 bikes will accept the 180. That got changed along with a lot of other stuff on the 06 bikes. I just learned to accept the good old 150 rear, at least they're cheap to replace.
I have a '97 Wide Glide with a 180 on the rear. We had to cut the fender horns, used a softail fender, narrower (3/4") belt and corresponding pulley, LED taillight for a softail, wider back rest and luggage rack.
You can also check with dmc customs...I believe they are out in Oregon. I could not find the link, but use the search function and I have included the link those posts.
Wide tires??? These days, I think wide bike back tires just start to be considered getting wide at 240mm.
I have to agree. A 200mm just doesn't seem worth the money you'll have to put into it. My 2 cents is if you want a big rear tire consider something like a Big Bear or Big Dog. I don't think you're going to pull it off sucessfully on the dyna. Then you have to consider the balance when you line the rear belt up. Just too many obsticles IMHO.
