Cam change, etc. Opinions sought.
Anyway, I already purchased, installed an SE heavy breather a/c, V&H Big radius pipes, and paid for the download before I picked up my bike about 5K miles ago. I love the bike, but want more power, especially on the highway (I ride from CT to Maine a lot...).
The changes I am proposing (I am not a mechanic, so bear with me) are as follows:
- Feuling Combo Kit - #7074 - Cam Support/Oil Pump/hydraulic roller lifters/gasket kit.
- Feuling Reaper Cams - #1005-(525) -525 intake/535 exhaust
- Feuling - #4065 - HP+ Adjustable Pushrods
- Feuling - #1205 - Beehive Valve Springs
- Dynojet - Power Commander V
- Dynojet - Auto Tune for Power Commander V
Oh yeah, should I get the crank welded and balanced as long as I am in there? What is the benefit of doing this? Does it need to be done if I am going up to 107" next year? Is there anything obvious I am missing? As I said, I am not a mechanic and I am new to this forum... feedback?
It looks like I will be able to purchase these parts for around $1700. How many hours do you think it should take for a skilled mechanic to put this together?
Thank You-
I got the SE cam plate and oil pump. Works good for me. Never heard anything about feuling cams. Save your money on the springs until you have head work done, let your head guy set them up with what he likes or thinks will work best for your combo.
Can't give you any advice on tuners, I am a carb guy.
Check out R&R cycles they have a good cam plate as well. I would also advise talking to a shop or head guy before buying anything. Get a good game plan on your future mods and what will be good to buy now....sucks buying twice!
