I have a '96 Super Glide, with about 27,000 miles. The front end seemed to have a rattle, even at idle. more pronounced at 1/8 throttle.
I replaced the front motor mount -- easy enough to do (10 minutes) but still have the problem.
It seems to start when I go to sit on the bike (applying weight).
It seems like the rear pan is hitting the underside of the gas tank or the frame there. I stuck a wrench in between and it stopped the rattle.
I think that it might be the rear motor mount.
Replacing the rear one doesn't seem to look as easy though. Has anyone done both (or at least the rear?).
Are they basically the same part ? After removing the front, it looked OK. I was thinking of putting the front one on the rear if they are.
I have checked the play in the primary chain, adjusted the secondary belt. It seems like the rear head is vibrating against the underside of the gas tank or the frame there. I stuck a wrench in between and it stopped the rattle.
