Default Painting over Chrome

So I just bought a full quick release sissy bar system for my "blacked out" 06 BoB ...

Concern: It's Chrome

Question: Can I rattle can it Black and make it look good ? I was hopeing that I wont have to send them to the powder coater or the paint shop.

This is what I bought.

Paint does not stick very well to chrome. That being said you would half to scuff it up with a scotch brite pad at the very least. But if your using a rattle can it would't take much to touch up when ever it needed.

Size: 34.3 KBI rattle canned a lot of chrome on my Sporty, this shows my heat shields and air cleaner cover, I always just scratched it up good with a light sandpaper then sprayed usually three coats, it holds up great, I only did flat so I am not sure about gloss.

Use light sand paper and self-etching primer. You can get it in a spray can. Works great.

I Krylon wrinkle coated some chrome parts. I took a cheap orbital sander and roughed up the chrome, then hit it with some brake clean before laying on the paint. Worked fine for me. It's only spray paint, you can always put more on.

I wanted to do that to my short shots heat shield but was afraid of what the results might be.
