I know where you're coming from and I too have chased this situation for 2 years now. The stealer will do nothing and likely say it isn't pinging. Some stealers will say it's "normal"! I've gone the full gamut, tried the X-ides, don't waste your $$! I have a TTS, dialed in on the dyno by guys who specialize in HD tunes using the TTS and have been involved with NHRA for over 30 years. I have discussed this issue with other dealers in the area where Yuill Bro's do their work and have not one negative word to say about their tuning ability. To please me, they have done to it what I wanted, changed programing, added fuel, retard timing. The present tune I now have, is likely the best one yet! That said, I need to ask what your are really hearing?? Is it an actual ping or a ticking sound from the left side of the motor?? Mine has done this from day one, even prior to the mods I've done. A ping is a ping, that rattling sound like metal shavings in a coke can. The "ticking" sound is what I get under the same conditions you speak of. I can ride it like a two stroke, roll it on even harder and get ticking from the engine. So, my riding habits or style aren't the issue! I've had Yuill Bro's ride the bike, friends ride the bike, everyone comes to the same conclusion, it's not pinging, it's likely valve train and other gear noise we hear. I've equated the ticking I hear, as detonation, when in reality or probability, it's not that and likely gear/valve-train noise. Why I only hear it when I roll on the go above 3-3200R's is beyond me, likely because of the load being put on the engine under this condition. Hope this helps and I'd like to know if it's ticking noise you are hearing.
