Mid pegs and Forward Controls ?
<"iwant1">
I put on a set of Actutronic foward controls about 6 or 7 yrs ago, took less than 6 blocks to get use to them, great set of controls.
Reasons to do it:
1- safety (reflex)
2- nice on trips
Things you lose using forward controls:
1- tight turns
2- counter steering
3- getting off the seat (w/mid pegs no problem) hole, bump or 2x4 in the road.
I sometime miss my mid pegs.

I know what you mean cj. All my other bikes had mids (sports bikes), and I rode about 1500 km's on my Superglide before I put the forwards on. Fact is though, I'm just too damn tall to have the mids and I love the forwards. I love the riding positions and the look. I can't wait to get the extension kit on too.
Think I'll go some billet chrome mid pegs as some of the others have done, as they blend with the chrome on the engine and peg mounts real nice. Thanks to those who posted pics of their setups.

<" Why do you lose counter steering with the Actutronic forward control??
You dont lose it with Harley or Kuryakyn forwards.">
Sorry RonnR when I hit post-it I then saw DUH ! what I should have stated, one loses "bit more counter steering" not that one loses all of it sorry about that, as you know counter steering is just getting around stuff quicker, hole, bump etc. in a up coming left turn your going a little too fast for the turn, put downward pressure on the left grip and if that doesn't help you (your really flying : ) at the same time lift (a little) up on the right grip or lean on the left peg a little, mid pegs are the bike lowest center of gravity.
As for your point about losing counter steering w/forward control, well I never had much luck putting lean on a forward control peg, I am about 6'3 or 4" my legs are too out stretched, maybe I should work out a little and do leg squats : - )
Again sorry for the wording,
cj

I know what you mean about being tall w/just mids, I don't have them now but as I said, sometimes I really do miss them.

I think they will look good.
Good luck !

<âIve never thought of using pegs in a counter steering situation,, but I guess it could aid somewhat.â >
If you find yourself in a never ending hard (road is running out) left turn and using counter steering, try laying your left cheek off the seat (to the left) as your left knee is almost hugging the asphalt, leaning down on the left peg gives one a bit more cut, thatâs that low center of gravity thing.
<âbut, As you know the point of counter steering is to get your front tire on its side quickly and the handle bars are the most responsive way to do this. But I understand your post now,,
Thankâ>
No-doubt, it is the most responsive way for all, but those who ride w/ape hangers : - )
I guess they use âbody-englishâ : - )
Take care,

Thanks for the volly...............

<"Your right, I was out this eve on a quiet road, that twist an turns back and forth.. I found myself in a hard lean and noticed that i was puting my weight more on the boards than I thought I was .. It appears that every little bit helps after all.. Sometime you just dont notice what your instincts are doing.... ">
Well more or less it was fear of not making it all the way through the curve that made me a belevier : - )
"..Sometime you just dont notice what your instincts are doing.."
That is one hell of a true statement !!!
take care, ride safe !
