I too agree with TOMMAY,, The natural controll position for me is feet forward, Thats where my feet are 90% of the time.. The mids are nice for a change up,, but when I need to act fast, my feet always go forwards..

My thinking is that sometimes you only have a split second to react to save your ***. I don't want to have to move from highway pegs back to the mid mount to apply brakes or down shift.

Good Luck

Tom
I agree with TOMMAY.

Sammi
I would have to agree, even though I have mid controls and forward pegs....I only use the fwd pegs when the road is deserted and there is little or no chance of needing brakeor shift quickly. I also will alternate one foot of the other fwd just to get a little change and stretch

I've had my DWG a week and I thought the same thing on my first hour-long trip. Looking below, I see two rubber grommets on each side and I assume the peg mounts would go there. Anyone have an idea what those mounts would cost? I have my stock pegs sitting on a shelf.
Pull the rubber plugs out and you'll find the threaded holes for the mid peg brackets. I can't help with the '06 parts, but my parts book for the 04-05 years show part numbers

Right mid bracket 50649-90 $50l92 at Zanotti's plus shipping
Left mid bracket 50639-90 $42.91 at Zanotti's plus shipping

Hope that helps.

Make your life a lot easier. When time comes to put a bolt in those holes take a tap and clean all the exccess paint out of them. Mine were thick with paint.

I agree about the safety factor problem of keeping the mids and using the highway pegs. When I first got my Bob, the mids felt a bit awkward, but seeing as I'm only 5'8" I decided to give them a try before changing them to forward controls. I mounted the highway pegs from J&P and only use them when there is no other traffic around. I have found that I have gotten used to the mids nowa nd like them, as it allows me the leverage to move around and lift my butt up whenever I need to adjust. Good point about the safety of reaching the brake and shifter Tommay. I never use my highway pegs while I'm in any kind of traffic. I have also practiced getting my feet back to my mids in an emergency.

I added the mid pegs on my wide glide. I am 5'8" and long rides with only the forward pegs caused the cramps. The mid position is really a back saver plus they give the bike a good skid point if you end up sliding sideways.

I have forwards and my alternate footing, it kicking my feet out and resting the back of my ankle on top of the pegs. I can actually get my feet onto the passenger pegs while riding but it's not comfortable, i just tried it to see if i could. Also i have a hell of a time trying to put the kickstand down with the rear pegs folded down.

<"iwant1">

I put on a set of Actutronic foward controls about 6 or 7 yrs ago, took less than 6 blocks to get use to them, great set of controls.

Reasons to do it:

1- safety (reflex)
2- nice on trips

Things you lose using forward controls:

1- tight turns
2- counter steering
3- getting off the seat (w/mid pegs no problem) hole, bump or 2x4 in the road.

I sometime miss my mid pegs.

Why do you lose counter steering with the Actutronic forward control??
You dont lose it with Harley or Kuryakyn forwards..
