Because Soft Tails are made to go on the back of a Dyna.

I actually really fancied a Night Train, then they discontinued it. The rest of the softail range is all chrome and tassles. Not for me. I did actually test a Fat boy but really didn't like it. Felt a bit like a barge compared to the bikes I'm used to (Japanese sports bikes)

In the end the only bikes I really liked where the Fat bob and Street bob as well as the Nightster and Forty Eight.

When i sat on a sportster, I knew I wanted something bigger. Choosing between the Street bob and Fat bob was hard, but I knew I wanted forward controls and carry a passenger, so Fat bob it was. And I love it. Very slick handling indeed.

Actually I was about to buy a Night Train BUT the sales guy parked the Night Train right next to the Fat Bob, I sat on both and I just liked the way the Fat Bob felt. Not to mention the Fat Front tire and twin head light screamed something different.

Had a Sporty, loved it, but wanted something bigger. The Softails and Baggers aren't my style. The Dyna's a Sporty on steroids and probably the most versatile of all the Harleys. You can tour, cruise, or whatever on them!

Couldn't have said it better!

I loved my '89 FXRS-SP Convertible w/ the Q/R w/s and leather bags; it seemed the perfect Harley, to me. And my '09 FXDC is close enough to being the same bike. My Dyna is a super-comfortable luxury-Sportster with a 5.1-gallon tank! Very quick-handling on the mountain roads I favor; so much fun to ride.

And it's beautiful!

Looks first, it reminded me of the old shovelheads and the FXR's that made me want a Harley when I was a kid. Second it was the price, couldn't beat the bang for the buck. Finally it handles like a dream and is fast as hell with all that motor packed into that light frame. And there is no way I was gonna buy a softail. My wife is the only softail I ride!!!

For me it started as price. I bought the 07 Black FXD with 417 miles on it to resell. I got a screaming deal on it. Year old and in new condition for 10K. It already had forward controls and lay-down lic. plate, but was otherwise a new stock bike. Not much chrome and that's geat since I'm not a person who spends much time shining stuff. After just letting it sit parked for a week or so, I was planning to put it back on the market. BUT...... I rode it a little, then I rode it a lot. Kept it. My girlfriend has an 03 Heritage and it seemed like a proper bike to ride with her. I swore I'd leave it alone, but I started by installing XR1200 bars and black mirrors, then a Tallboy seat, then Ohlins shocks. Now I'm looking at better brakes and tires. I picked up a set of stock spoked wheels which will get some SS spokes and alloy rims. It begins. Oh, then I bought another one, totalled right down to the frame, so that will be interesting rebuild, someday. I bought that one for the challenge and to learn a bit about these new HDs.
