I overfilled once, and gas kept seeping all the way home. Next time I stopped when the pump kicked off ... no issues.

I had the same issue. I filled it up about an inch 1 and 1/2 from the top. I turned a corner and gas flew out like there was no top on it. I then drove to the dealer and bought a new seal for the cap. Still has the same issue. Plus I make sure I screw the cap down after filling. It seems like a defect to me. 2010 WG

I agree with the others that it sounds like the seal on the cap is the problem. If you do decide to replace the cap, consider getting a locking cap. Years ago, I had a cap stolen. I had my bike parked in a parking structure near a "rough" neighborhood and sure enough anything on the bike that was removable was gone one day. Plus, there might be some loon out there that might want to dump something in the gas. Probably will never happen, but better to be on the cautious side.

Wifes 2010 Street Bob has this problem. You get it anywhere close to the petcock bottom lip, it will spill out as soon as you stand the bike up. My W.G. you can pump gas all the way up to the cap threads and it wont leak....its a pain with hers just to try and make sure you dont put to much in.

Interesting. Hopefully you can just get the seal or cap replaced to fix the problem. I try to put as much fuel in the tank as possible before taking off for a ride. Fuel costs double off base here, plus some of the guys I ride with have 6 gallon tanks and I don't want to be "that guy" needing to stop for fuel too soon.

Yea, mine started leaking real bad, the dealer replaced the gas cap with a new one under warranty and no leaks...the seal must have gone bad.

I just had that very same problem on my 2010 Street Bob. The dealer replaced the gas cap gasket (round large seal) on the gas cap just above the threads of the cap.
