By trading rides with my buddies on long trips I've managed to get considerable road time on two different road kings, a fat boy, two different heritage softails, and a softail deluxe.
The dyna just simply wins. Style, ride, handling, power, you name it, the dyna wins the competition.
I've got the forward controls, my handlebars are two up and two back, and I can just sit back and ride. Nothing else fits, feels, looks, or rides anywhere close to it.
I'm satisfied that I made the right choice when I bought this one. Dyna is just simply the most functional and well rounded machine in the HD lineup. No question about it.

Glad to hear it. It does it for me; can't imagine anything better. If the wife ever starts riding though I know I'll have to trade for her comfort, which would actually make it ok.
I love my Dyna also and my wife did start wanting to ride with me. We got a Road King just for that last week...she told me to keep my Dyna!!! No selling no trading!!! I gotta a cool wife! (ps: she reads these forums...hopefully she sees this one)
I have had a softail and a Roadking. The Dyna is the best by far! I really enjoy a twisting road now and can cover more miles with far less discomfort.
I dunno. If I were doing a lot of cross-country, multi-day touring, I'd have to vote for the EG or Road Glide. The extra weather protection, air shocks, hard bags and radio will spoil you. But I agree that the Dyna is probably the most versatile with regards to handling and functionality. Stick a windshield and luggage on it and you have a tourer (although without the luxuries I mentioned above). Take off the bags and shield and you have a bike that can can be whipped in and out of traffic and hold its own on the backroads.
I like Sportsters and Eglides, two opposite ends of the spectum. The Dyna just works for me, not quite as quick as a Sporty or as comfy and convieniant as an FL.But unlike a sporty it doesnt look stupid with saddle bags, and it's probably allot more fun on a twisty back road than an FL.
