I just replaced my A/C on my 06 Bob with the Arlen Ness Big Sucker. When I took off the stock A/C there was a cable that was clipped into the bottom of the stock A/C housing, but was not connected to anything. Because there is no where on ther Big Sucker backplate to clip this wire I just zip tied it out of the way. Does anyone know what this cable is for?
It operates a solenoid in the air box.
That unit is called the Active Intake Solenoid. It's purpose is to open an air valve in the air cleaner at speeds over 70KPH, with a throttle opening greater than 50%. It is for international models (HDI).
Reference: HD service manual pages 4-3, 4-7.
On my bike, it keeps coming unfastened from the socket. No matter how securely I think I've got it pushed into the socket, I'll find it hanging out from under the airbox after a "spirited" ride.
Swear to gawd... first time I saw it hanging down I thought my L'rider had come equipped with a tampon.
I live in europa. and have 2006 wide glide. So I have the same problem. What should I do with this cables ? I bought se a/c but cannot install because dealer does not know what to do w
th this cables ? may we zip tie it behind the new back plate ? I am afraid to see error code....
If you live in Europe, you'll need something like this http://www.vtwinmania.co.uk/product_...oducts_id=1314
There's also a Dynojet version of this in the Zodiac online catalog. If you have a SE Race Tuner, you can disable it there.
