First and foremost...hello everyone. Seems like this is a great forum/site you have here. I'm looking forward to searching through the archives and feeding the brain. But my first search has left me empty handed...so I'd like some thoughts (if I can't get an image).
About the pic request: I bought a 2010 Vivid Black Superglide Custom about a month ago and got the wifeys necessities out of the way (detachable windscreen and detachable backrest with rack). So now it's time to do the "me" mods for when I get to detach that backrest and windscreen. I've been bouncing around the idea of buying the V&H "black" sideshots with BCT baffles for it. Problem is I can't seem to find a pic of this set-up on a bike of the same model and color as mine. So I'm not sure if that's a sign, or what? My concern is that with all the chrome on the customs, that the black sideshot may not go as well as I think...or worse yet that the flat black finish of the pipes will clash up against the more polished finish of the vivid black paint on the bike. Anyone have any advice/thoughts in regard to these concerns?
I own a 2010 Spupr Glide Custom. I would not think of putting any flat paint on a shiner like this bike. I run Rush pipes with 2 inch baffels with the fiberglass removed. The sound is great. I also use the VIEDS for now and the power is great and the bike runs perect. A black and chrome bike is made to shine and to fly.
Why not get the V&H Sideshots in chrome? It really depends on the look you are ultimately going for. If you're eventually going to black it out, leave the stock pipes on for now and start with the less expensive parts first. Congrats on the new scoot, welcome to the forum and good luck on your first of many HD dilemmas!
Thanks guys. Yeah this is my 5th bike, but 1st Harley. So I've got some figuring out to do on how I wanna approach this canvas. I guess I's just trying to go with something other than chrome since every bike night I've ever gone to has dozens and dozens of bikes with chrome V&H pipes...so week after week of seeing hundreds of chrome pipes just got me itching for something a little less common I guess. Not to mention, I really like how those blacked out sideshots look. I's hoping to see a pic of them on a vivid black Superglide Custom (or any vivid black dyna for that matter) so that I could decide for myself if I wanted to pull the trigger. Oh well.
Perhaps if I don't see one here over the next couple days, I'll email V&H and see if they can help.
I agree with the other posters. Not sure black would look all that good on a Custom. There's just so much other chrome on the bike. But that's just me.
Dennis Kirk is pretty decent on some things. Not recommending the place or anything -- Just sayin' that's all. The chrome one's are $515 and the black ones are about $50 more.
I also think that if you're gonna leave a 2-up seat on it without a serious laydown, and curved, license plate bracket along with a laydown or re-located tailight and shortened turn signal stems??? I think Maddog's and Starboard's bikes look pretty darned good. The sideshots might make your bike look unbalanced.
But that's just me, like I said.
Take your time. Your tastes, likes and dislikes will change over time. Trust me on that one. Mine have changed so much, I'm confused as hell.
