I was looking at the new Screamin Eagle catalog. They show an engine mod kit (part 29774-02B) for a 2006 Dyna that will take it from 1450cc to 1550cc. The interesting thing is that the increase in torque and horsepower are incredible, like 25%. And it states using stock pipes! Can anyone confirm these type of results - especially with stock pipes?
I believe the SE stage I big bore kit also includes the air cleaner and hardware....that's where it's getting the most power from, not the increase in 100cc's.
If you check out the stage I kit ( NOT big bore ) just the SE air cleaner and hardware, I believe it will show that.
The cheapest and easiest power for your money is the air filter and hardware.
The SE slip on mufflers only gave me 2 to 5 HP on my 2005 FXDCI.
I have a 2005 FXDCI (stock is less HP than a stock 2006 )
with the SE slip mufflers
SE stage I big bore kit (1550 cc's )
SE SERT and Dyno tune now 80HP & 86TQ
still running stock cams....which will change this winter to gear drive cams...that's why I did the SE stage I big bore kit and not the SE stage II big bore kit which includes the SE 203 cams.
hope this helps...look st the increas you get with just the stage I kit air filter and hardware only
It seems reasonable considering pipes+AC plus a good remap will get you right around 70Hp, 70TQ.Also theres a good thread around here somewhere demonstrating that a similarly equiped TC88 will get you approx the same HP and torque as a stock TC96.PS I dont have a Screaming Eagle Catalog so what's HD wanting for this Kit nowdays?
I just checked the HD website..
The SE air cleaner kit for $139.00 takes you from stock 59HP to 70HP. that's 11 HP for $139.00....that's the cheapest HP you'll get for your bike....the next 10 HP comes from the SE mufflers and stage II big bore kit.
BUT getiing the AFR air/fuel ratio is the key....
taht will take someting to remap or alter your EFI/ECM
A stage I will get you a significant bump, as it is a necessary element of going up to 95" try it first and see if it is adequate. I've had 2 stage I bikes. If you are goin to 95 , save up and do it right, headwork and cams along with the stage I elements . From a labor perspective it is cheaper to do it all at once .
I have what is essentially a Stage IV torque 95" except I use an Andrews TW31G instead of SE cams .
I do not know if I would believe everything that the S/E catalog would want you to believe.
A good low-lift, high torque cam, bore the cylinders, and a good set of heads and you would be VERY happy. You wouldnever wonder if you did it wrong.
