Both the wife an '07 EFI Street Bob over the weekend and her current ride is an'06 carbed 883 custom. She has 16" apes internally wired, braided throttle & clutch cable & braided brake line on the Sporty and wants to switch it all over to the SB will this work? or will I have to buy all new cables and lines? on the electrical I was thinking about just splicing wires on both bikes.

Good question. Since you have both bikes at your location you can do a visual on the carb/efi connections to see if there are any differences. I'd imagine the throttle grip connection would be the same since grips are not model specific.
That's nice to know. I was discussing my idea to switch over to a carb a few weeks ago with a so called HD mechanic and he told me I would need new cables. I've never checked into it, just took his word for it.
I researched part numbers a little and I don't see why the cables won't hook up to the engine and controls but the lengths might be wrong. the carbs between the sporty and the dyna are basically the same CV so I would assume that the efi linkages would be the same also.
This thread will be a good future heads-up to harley newbs ( like myself) who'd like to go to bigger bars & have better wiring options.
So is there a cutoff date to which carb cables will work on efi?
Example: I'm guessing cables for old AMF bikes won't work with efi, but those style of cables can be had in extended length, brand new, for $15-$20.
Was it only the late style mikuni carbs that had the same cable connections as efi? And what about clutch cables?
I haven't tried the swap yet but I suspect that everything but possibly the clutch cable will hook up. the Sporty throttle cables have a 45*bend at the throttle and big twins do not, so even if the cables are the same lenth they are going to have different part numbers do to that difference.
