Same here, I use it only when I attach a bag to it and that stops the rattle...

I thought I was the only one who did this LOL. I use tape on the docking points and works well.

Default quick release rattle

I also had the rattle going down the road. Tried the black tape thing but it wore out real quick. Tried rotating the rear bolt but that did not work. It is a side to side problem with the latches. I solved my rattle by removing both rear mounting bolts and added a washer to both. This makes the bolt stick out a little more. Just the thickness of the washer. Now when I put on the back rest I insert the front of the rack in as usual but I have to spread outward the rear latches just a little to get them to go on. This keeps the pressure on the rear catches and no more rattle. You may have to experiment with different thickness washers to get it just right for your set up. Once you find the proper thickness of washer you are done. No more replacing black tape etc. Powder coat is also good idea but this is a real quick and cheap fix.

It's a known issue with the detachable rack. If you look at the instruction sheet it will say to rotate the mount a certain amount. And it say's you can do this 4 times, then they want you to buy new mounts.( the plastic part)
I had the same problem and something told me to look at the installation sheet and that's where i found it. They don't rattle anymore.
