I will join this bandwagon...

Nope, no regrets.

I will admit to having no prior experience so I can not compare how my dyna rides to something else. My FatBob is my first bike bigger than a dirt bike and I love the ride and looks. Everyone has their own opinion which is cool, but I got to also agree with someones statement "how did you not notice the shocks?" and if you did not like the looks then why go with it?

You can neve go wrong with a regular swingarm bike: Sportster, Dyna, FX 4speed Shovel frames, FLH and My favorite FXR!!! Well, I love sportys cus they're small, fast and nimble and I can lane split like a motherfoosker on them. My sporty is now a rigid chopper but still handles better than the Softail I used to own. I have a Dyna T-sport that I seriously giggle like a school girl zipping around and thru traffic on. then I have a more portly FLHT. Still able to hold it's own just... able to carry more stuff.

I owned a softail because I thought one would look cool cut down in minimalist style but seriously, it rode like a dump truck and that's what I named it "dump truck" until I traded it in on my '09 FLHTCU and sold my old '91 FLHTP "Doughnut Roller". I realize now how much I miss the Old Doughnut Roller, she used to protect & serve as a cop bike and I used it for a life of traffic crime.

What do ya mean hide the shocks???? They're the coolest part of the bike plus the rubber mounted engine. Love my FB owned and ridden many bikes and never questioned my choice.

Had the Dynas first, plus an XR1200 and an FXR. Bought the softail from my girlfriend as a
favor to her. We rode it this summer for 2700 miles. It was ok, a little sluggish and didn't
have the ground clearance I like. With the big bags on it, it's hard to tell that it's shocks are
under the bike. I'm not appalled by it, but no big fan either. I'd say, it's just ok.
My FXD is starting to get my giggle index up, though. Just like the XR, but it takes two up
much better.

Soft tails are good if thats what you want, I like the looks/handling of the dyna's better.
In the end its what you prefer and what makes you happy as a rider.

I get crap from all the guys I work with that own softies, they always say "you need to clean your bike, it's starting to really look dirty"....my response, "I don't have the time to clean it, I ride it everyday!" They say I ride my bike a lot also, but mine is clean also. But when we compare our milage they gasp! Most of them say they put on maybe 2000-3000 miles on their bike in our riding season (late March through late October, for them anyways). I tell them, I just bought my SB back in April of this year and I have already gone over the 10k mark and my riding season consist of any day that doesn't involve icy roads, a few feet of snow or hurricane winds!

No regrets at all... I am on my second Dyna, first was a StreetBob and the second is a LowRider....Out performs a Softail any day of the week....and seriously were you hung over the day you bought your bike? I mean really how can you not have noticed the shocks.? and as far as hiding them go....I think you should sell it as your bike deserves better...
