Just to throw in my 2 cents, my gas cap rattles at through some rpm's and sounds like the engine is pinging. It drove me nuts trying to find out why my brand new bike running super unleaded was pinging. Then I found out the culprit, the stock gas cap.

Wish it was my gas cap, but that's not it. Will check for trouble codes also as this pinging is driving me nuttttttzzzzzz. With all these electronic gizmos this thing should not be doing that as you guys have mentioned.

I just have the service manual which doesn't describe the process to access/interpret the trouble codes. Can they be accessed without a reader? Also, does anyone have the access process available if I can get to the codes via this button-that button-wait 2 seconds-hit that switch-etc-etc? Thanks.
