Not being a smarty pants, but is this you guys first motorcycle, or first bike with these type of mirrors? I have never had a mirror of this style not vibrate some from the pure fact that I am riding in wind at 70 mph.
If you had attached mirrors with a wind faring blocking the mirror such as some sports bikes or a car then I could see the concern for vibration, but with a post type mirror without protection from the wind. What do you expect?
No and there is a difference. I'm sure everybody that posted on here knows there is a standard vibration that blurs your mirrors, especially Harley's. Most that talk about vibrations more than likely think that the mirrors are worthless and can't see squat.
As for me I never felt I had a problem with vibrations and considered the amount of vibration to be normal, but I had to change my front motor mount and low and behold I can read speed limit signs on the other side of the highway going 70-80 for a good 1/4 mile. So when I'm riding in the wind at 70-80 mph my mirrors are very usable and I don't know what you're talking about.
Mine vibrates at different RPM's while standing still, but clears up when I'm riding. Very usable at speed. As the poster above said, I can read speed limit signs on the other side of the road as I go past them.

Reason: Typo
So i did the front motor mount shim today. I put in 3/16" shim. As soon as i started the bike it was much better. Took it for a ride and its much better. Obviously its goint to have a vibration, its a Harley. I now need a louder exhaust since this smoothed out everything. This mod took about 15 min or so give or take.
My 98 FXDWG has the clearest mirrors of any Harley I have owned, both are crystal clear...I think there are some adjustments to the rubber mounts that can be done to make things smoother....or go to a Sportster forum and look up the anti handlebar vibration tricks those guys come up with.
i came off of an inline 4cyl japanese bike when i got my first harley. that was a 05 sportster. i remember shortly after getting the sporty and accelerating hard onto a highway, and taking a glance in the mirrors to see what was going on behind me.
it looked like you took splotches of color and put them on a plugged in orbital sander.
the dyna is way better than that, but it still hard to use the mirrors to judge if the 'man' is behind you.
