Default How low can you go... Comfortably

Looking to drop the rear on my lowrider. A few of my concerns:
Usually ride with my wife. I'm 200lbs and she's 150 (don't tell her I posted that). Worried about creating a hardtail feel when she's on.

I'd like to get the rear as low as possible without losing too much comfort. Anyone who rolls with a passenger have pics/ideas?

I ride with my wife all the time. About the same total weight as you. I am not horsing with lowering the shocks until I go back to solo on the Bob.

I'm 220 and my wife is 150 as well..... I can't imagine going lower and having a quality ride. Lower is for looks. There's no way I could go lower than stock riding 2-up with packed saddle bags and tour pack unless my shocks were set to make it ride like a hay wagon.

I'm going to 13.5" shocks.

The lower you drop, the more uncomfortable it will be....especially if you're riding 2-up a lot.

The misses and I never went for a ride with the stock shocks because i pulled them off about a minute after I got the bike and installed the Burly Slammers in the rear (only). I way just under 200 and she is just over 100. We have being on many rides and a week long trip where we averaged about 200-250 miles a day. The ride quality was a million times better then the 2006 Sporty 1200 Custom I had prior to this. The only thing I want to add to my bike to make it handle better is a True-Track system.

I was 227 and my wife was 160 when I got my Dyna in December 2002. Riding two up with the wife was very uncomfortable. Rather than lowering the bike, I droped a few pounds (now I am at 153) and I got a newer and lighter wife. I like both of these mods! Current wife has her own bike, so she rarely gets on the Dyna with me, but when she does, it rides just fine with no lowering.

That's great! And dropping that kind of weight is pretty impressive too.

I'm just 5'6" with a really short 27" inseam, not looking to lose any weight (quite the opposite). I just put a new front end on (3 degree, 2 over) so that should have kept the front around the same height. I forgot to compensate for the 21" wheel over the 19" I had so I'm an inch higher up front and now looking at possibly bringing the rear down... Partially for look and partially to stand flat footed.

If you are going to do it, go with a high end shock like Ohlins.
