Default 2 inch Tank Lift - Pics

ok, so not an uncommon mod but realy happy with the way it turned out and the bike profile as a result.

Couple of things to note for anyone wondering:
- I did NOT have to replace the Fuel crossover.
- I DID have to extend the Vacuum hose from the tank nipple under the console to the first joiner by about 3 inchs.
- My Right indicator just touches the tank at full lock, Left is Clear. Oh no, i have to do a relocate.....
- Time to install, 1 beer. Which i have to say was mildly disappointing, i was really looking forward to a 2 beer install....

One question, in my excitement to get started i forgot to check my fuel gauge before doing the lift, so i've no idea how much, and which way (fuller/emptier) it will read now. Anyone know what the diff will be, and/or is there a way to re-cal the fuel gauge?

Cheers,

'8s

Looks good on there. Just fill it up then you will know how much is in there. I go by mileage now but it will be off some.

Lookin good! I've got the 3" lift, and when topped off it shows 3/4 tank on the gauge. The gauge will show less than what's actually there. As others have said I rely and fill on mileage rather than the gauge as its inaccurate from the get go. Hope this helps.

Looks great man! The seat flows real nice up onto the tank. I nice upgrade! I did a 2" lift at the same time I did a heavy breather and new V&H short shots. When it was all done I went and filled up and then rode the bike for about 50 miles. Came home and noticed that my fuel gauge was reading at about 3/4 full. I thought no way I burned through that much gas so I called my dealer and they are going to recalibrate my fuel gauge...actually, they probably won't seeing that I did a tank lift.

looks nice but you have it on backwards the radius cut out faces the stem nut. then you wont see the tank lift and it will hide itself inside the tank channel and covers the hole for the tank tunnel, look at pic below. jackyl

you dont have to relocate the turn sigs, just loosen your pearches on that side and roatate the turn sig a little upwards and re-align the sig and your good to go. no need to relocate them, just need to rotate them a little. jackyl

Weren't you the one that said you were inspired by the lift when I posted my pics? I guess you weren't lying. That didn't take long at all. Congrats...Looks great! One of the best bang for your buck mods. I love the look of a lifted tank from the riding position when cruising down the road even more than the great looking profile shot it gives you.

In other news: Enjoy that second beer.

Edit: Bikes coming along nicely and looking good. Seen someone else made comment on the headlight. I think that big of a light would tie in a little better with your bike if you could tuck it back a little more, like others have done. Any plans for that? Or do you like it hanging out front and center the way it is?
