Joe, you should put a small enough battery in the wing that can be put on a trickle charger when the wing is off the bike that is powerful enough to hold the memory on the radio. Cause once you detach it from the bike you will loose all your settings. For instance if the radio is sat ready, hd ready or just your local stations programmed in will be lost the next time you hook it up to the bike. You only need something with enough juice to get you from the bike to the rack where it can be plugged in.

Just an idea!!!

blue that is def in the works... but will have to wait till my trip is over and i have more time to make a cradle

sorry they are so dirty but they are covered in cutting oil! hahaha
my solution to the added support... some 2 in muffler clamps that have been coated in black and then wrapped in tube. from there then drilled though the welded on tab to run them though and support the weight... this is all i got done last night after about 5 hrs of cleaning! hahaha
they work great and are so tucked inside the fairing you never see them!
all that is left is paint, wiring, little powder, and final assembly! hoping to be done this weekend... have to i leave in 2 weeks and need time to test!

Yep, starting to look more and more like it's going to be a permanent fixture. It's no longer a "quick" detachable!!!

hahaha no way... still comes off in less than a minute (we actually timed it last night after assembly test. took me 32 seconds... it is still just 4 quick clamps and 4 5/8 nuts takes no time. the hoop slides right out and just unplug... i ride way way to hard to ahve a big ol fairing in front of me trying to rip turns. if i could not make it come off fast i would never put one on. i would just buy a touring bike to add to the stable... this allows me to ahve the best of both worlds

Well left the auto paint shop... machine said that my color sample was impossible to match for the powder work. So back to black... went with Dupont Centari Single stage 99A and reducer... should work out very nice!
I tried and failed last night to wrap some metal aroudn the bags a bit to coat that... i thin i was thinking to big not subtle... so my bro is going to come by and help me come up wiht something trick but subtle... shooting paint tomorrow!

Well it is painted... kind-a, I biffed on my first coats mixture, used the wrong chart on the cup... STUPID *** move! would have just junked it and started over, however i mixed 1/3 of my Quart... and did not relize till i started to paint (shot fine on the test pannel while i adjusted my gun in) but needless to say i did not thin it out enough, shot clumpy... so i let that flash... redid my mixture, and then i laid smmmmooooooth after that, but i was already in the hole. So i have alot of wet sanding and buffing ahead of me. Also, i rushed myself (leaving Thurs deadline over my head making me do stupid sh$t) could not fit it all in the booth, so rather than doing the RIGHT thing and doing it part by part, i shot it outside... dumb a$$ move on my part... so not like me to rush something. the good news is it is easy to pull it apart and redo it all... which to be flat out honest is prob what i am going to do after i get home from my trip... but ya never know i have seen wet sanding work some amazing stuff in the past, so we will see. You can realy see the peel in the inner fairing, the rest is not so bad less the over spray on them from the other parts, but that should all come out easy with a bit of paper to it... so we will see... went back and forth on doing black or not, kind of glad i did as it does look really good! the face plate cover and the grills in the matching black was a money shot idea... looks wicked. so we will see, have a 24 hr cure time so i can start wet sanding tonight
and as always sorry for the cruddy scell pics... good news is i get a new I phone next month so good pics then on out!

grills and face plate in the inner

here is a shot of the template i made to cut my metal to coat in the blue to tie that into the fairing, already have the ones cut and coated for hte bags

also had to work out SWASS, goign to be stupid hot in Mo while we are riding and 20+ hrs in the saddle had to get somethign that i could do for a while...so i wrapped the seat in some fur, if you have never rocked fur seat on a long trip in the heat = life saver! ugly as hell but will have my *** planted on it most of the time

I got this same fairing on my Road King, I love it. I added Rockford Fosgate 6.5" components to the system, tweeters in front mounted above corners of radio & mids mounted in saddlebags. PPI 6x9 w/ angle tweeter in fairing.
