Hi iwant1,
I know it's not the best time to travel with the heat but the bike will be ok if I take it easy. I am counting on 15 thousand plus, not sure which way I will be going if I can get a tail wind west from Townsville to take me across the top I'll take advantage of it.
Camberra is one of those places you need a reason to go to,it's not on the way to anywhere, I don't plan on it but you never know.

Hey Roadtrain
Farkin A. There's gonna be some long hot days on those dead straigh highways for ya.
That sounds like an awesome ride man. How many K's you expecting to do ? That's gotta be at least 15-20 thousand right ?
OK I got a response back from Dave at Redline oils. He confirmed that oil can indeed run to cool. anything under 180 usually does not burn off condensation and the viscosity is not right.
The Proper running temp for a Air Cooled V twin motor according to Red Line is 200-250 degree's
Oil coolers are helpful. Harley's water cooled engines will solve the problem, then we can add a transmission cooler for towing, and those really long trips.........LOL
the thermostat is to keep the oil at a stable temp .. it will not open if the oil/engine is too cool and only opens when the oil/engine gets up to temp .. i went ahead and bought it and glad i did its a pretty nice add on that actually serves a purpose. here in fl it great HOT. so why not a cooler and more oil .. it sounds like a win win to me ..
