AFTER you have checked all the basic I would replace the system relay. My motor kill when i am at speed on the highway but the electrical stays on. If I hit the run/stop switch it will fire right back up. I have narrowed it down to the system relay and the fuel pump shuting off. I have read a few people having this issue.
The first item I checked was the battery terminals and found the negative one to be a little bit loose.
I have tightened this up and hope (optimistically) this may have been the problem.
Awaiting a test ride but it's been piddling down all day here in the UK!
Will post results when I get out next.
Just back from a ride and........RESULT, my bike is running fine again, it was just the negative terminal of the battery, gradually getting looser until the intermittent cut-out problem started.
Something to bear in mind if ever you get a similar problem
I know this is an old thread, but on the way home today I had the cutout problem start up on my 07 for with 114,000 miles. It got worse and then died completely up the street from my house. No electrical power at all, then it switched back on and I limped home. Checked the battery and, sure enough, the negative cable was loose. So +1 on checking the battery terminals first.

Yup, old thread but still good info. I thought once the bikes are cranked, power is supplied by the alternator/regulator and the battery goes into charging status. But it sounds like our bikes is still powered by battery even with engine running... Is this right? Pardon my ignorance if it is....
