Default Progressive shock ?

Thinking about putting some progressive shocks on my 01 lowrider, has anybody had any experience with the 412 or 430 series? The 430's are about twice the money of the 412's, but they might be worth it. terry

I have progressive 430s, I had always used progressive shocks. I like the look they bring to my bike and the ride and comfort they bring as well

I recently put a set of 412s on fatbob. got them NIB on ebay for under $200. I notice some improvement in ride and bump handling. the wife says there is a big difference when she is on back. I think it was money well spent. I did go with 12.6 inch rather than 12 inch. oh and i got the black ones cause i really didn't like the look of the big chrome stock units on fatbob. if they hold up ok for a few years i'll consider it money well spent

My experiment with street glide air shocks is coming to an end, just don't like the ride. i have been checking out the 430s. Like the look of them. Web site says that the shocks are hand adjustable. I interpret that as you can adjust them by hand with out any tools and not have the bike on a lift. Is that correct? If so how difficult are they to actually adjust?

Default Just put 418's on my fat bob

Also put 418's on a 2007 low rider I had but sold a couple years ago. These shocks totally transform the bike for the better. This is the way it should handle from the factory. I only weigh 160lbs and the stock Harley shocks were beating the hell out of my back. Every time I hit a bump in a turn the rear wheel would hop sideways a bit. With the progressives the ride is much smoother, softer but more controlled. Handling is much better. These can be pricey, full retail is around $600 a pair but I found these new on E-bay for $345 plus shipping.

Yes it is true you dont need tools to adjust, they arent that hard to adjust sometimes alittle stiff. In fact I aint adjusted mine in awhile, so they might be real stiff

I wouldn't recommend 412s. I have a new pair I tried and found them actually worse than the stock ones on my Fat Bob. They either bottomed or, when the pre-load was wound up, they were too hard. Very basic entry-level shocks.
