So you are saying the OP did not "sign up" for what he has...that his toys magically dropped in his lap and he wasn't expecting to pay for them? It sucks he has to sell his bike, but, like most of us at some point in our life, he pulled the trigger on a few toys that he couldn't afford. At least he did it earlier than later. Now he's the wiser for it so he can build his dreambike later on.
Sorry I touched a nerve with the military for you. Sounds like it didn't treat you well.
Kind of missed my point. I agree that the OP signed up for his toys as well, I just I do not like it when people bring those serving overseas into simple discussions about bikes.
No major nerve was touched. I had a great time in the military and I got my current job because of my experience in the military. Like I said, dude was just venting about not being able to keep his bike on a bike forum. I will admit, it does bother me when current or former military put themselves up on the cross.
Best wishes to you and your family Dan.
BTW, what kind of work do you do?
Thanks Richard. I work for a civil engineering firm.
Thanks everyone for the support, and I was not trying to complain, just vent. I am VERY VERY blessed for everything that I have, and like I said, I will find something else.
I actually decided this weekend that I am going to start applying for new jobs, so I am gonna give the bike a little while. If someone ends up offering what I owe, I will probably take it, but I don't see that happening soon.
So it looks like after only a few short months I am most likely leaving the harley family. I was in line for a promotion / raise months ago and I have given up on it ever happening, and my daughter is due in a month. So with my son and new daughter the bike has to go.
This will be the third time I sold a toy. When I was 19 I sold my 10 second all motor Honda so I could move into a townhouse with my wife, and then when I was 24 I sold my 68 Chevelle before my son was born.
Just venting to the people I have spent the last few months getting to know. I will be back, gonna be looking for a new job or any way to get better situated financially. When I do buy another bike eventually, it will be another Dyna. I am only 26, so I have plenty of time to enjoy it. Our daughter will be 18 when I am 44, so I can make a sick bike once the kids move out!
I understand. Rick Scott decided to tax Florida state employees 3% (contribution to the Florida Retirement System) so I had to sell my 09 Night Train in an effort to not let it affect family finances. Then after being without a bike for a month, I decided to sell my Jeep so that I could have money for a downpayment on another bike. We're all having to pick our toys carefully nowadays. You'll be back. Enjoy the kids.
Much of the problems Americans have with the economy is too much spending, pet spending projects for Washington elite!
A Tax code that is over 3000 pages long, and has lobbyist finger prints all over it,
A congress recently said it's ok to go 2 more Trillion in debt.
People owning houses that can't afford them, and the taxpayer ends up paying for their housing,
22 million more people on welfare since Obama took office.
Non-citizens getting welfare and free taxpayer schools.
A border where thousands of illeagals come in to the USA monthly and go on the Government dole.1
Now the ones wanting to balance the government checkbook are being called Terrorist for wanting to do what we all have to do on a monthly basis.
WTF's wrong here folks?
A morality issue where, it's against the law to pray in public.
Walk out of State fairs and get mugged, and your the racist!
Is it me or is America's priorities screwed up?
Unions just spent 30 million dollars to get 6 republicans kicked out of office in Wisconsin.
This stuff is just nuts,
Then we have folks who want to nuke America off the map, and we don't do a damn thing!
Sorry to hear, but I hope you keep your chin up. It's just stuff, blood and loved ones are more important. **** is likely to get worse before things get better, since the majority of people making decisions are not learning from recent mistakes, and thinking ******** will stop being ******** because **** is getting bad.
I recently traded off my heritage softail for a dyna streetbob. partly because I just couldnt afford the 359.00 a month but also I just needed a lighter bike. Im getting older and CP tends to get worse with age. The deals are out there. when your ready im sure youll get something you can be happy with. Good luck. BTW my payments dropped by over half. Maybe you could get a sportster to tie you over or a used dyna that someone needs to sell. I respect your decision and reasons to sell your bike. Just letting you know a lot of good used bikes out there if things start going your way again.
